Edina Legion

Season Ends with 18-12 Mark
Edina Legion Post 471 went 1-2 in District 10 play, ending its 2010 campaign.  Edina started out with a promising, but tough, win over the North End champs.  Edina beat Mora 11-6 but lost 2 catchers in the process.

Jack Schechinger, team MVP, was hit in the face with a pitch in the top of the third.  After playing through it, blurry vision forced him out in the bottom half of that inning.  Alex Nelson filled in and caught a great game until being knocked out in a collision with Andrew Kalina.  Kalina caught a foul ball for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 9th, but also knocked out Nelson and his tooth.  Both players were rushed to the hospital and checked out fine.

Edina faced a tough Eden Prairie in game 2 of districts and lost decisively.  Edina then drew a much-improved Hopkins in the loser's bracket.  Post 471 lost 11-6 in that one.

While Edina fell short of their goal-making another state tournament appearance-the season was an overall success.  Edina can return up to 10 players from this year's squad.  Knowing the talent and success coming up from the EBA, Edina Post 471's future is  brighter than ever.
